Dr. Catherine Grant Pickren | Ms. Senior Florida 2019

Dr. Catherine Grant Pickren is sixty-seven years “young.”  Coming from North Carolina to Fernandina Beach, Florida in 1984, she immediately got a job playing the piano at a resort on Amelia Island, Florida. 

While continuing to play on weekends, Catherine went back to school and completed a music education degree. In 1993, she began teaching public school music at Mandaring High School in Jacksonville, Florida including school choruses, class-piano, and musical theatre.  Catherine has taught all grade levels K-12 for 27 years.

Education is important to Catherine who holds a Bachelor’s, 2 Master’s, a Specialist and Doctorate Degrees. She is married to Vern Pickren, Jr. and together they have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
